RDC holds consultative-workshop on formulation of Central Luzon R & D Agenda

The RDC 3 in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) conducted a two-day “Consultative-Workshop on the Formulation of the Central Luzon Research and Development Agenda” last September 28-29, 2016 at the NEDA Conference Hall, DMGC, Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The workshop aimed to address development gaps and current issues through research and innovation, and to come up with a research and development agenda for Central Luzon. The R & D agenda will serve as an accompanying document of the Central Luzon Development Plan, 2017-2022.

The workshop was attended by 48 personnel from three consortia including CLAARRDEC, CLIERDEC and CLHRDC, as well as state universities and colleges (SUCs), funding agencies, and development partners and networks.

Programs of line agencies including Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Department of Health were presented in the symposium and were evaluated by four panelists.

The workshop participants were grouped into five sectors – Agriculture and Fisheries, Industry and Services, Social, Environment and Natural Resources, and Infrastructure and Settlements. The groups enthusiastically discussed ideas to come up with several researchable topics to address the issues identified.

Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, Regional Director of DOST-3, challenged the participants to bring down the technologies to the people, as he said “A vision without action is a dream but an action without vision is a disaster.” (Darwin G. Dela Cruz, CLSU)
