The launch and deployment of the first Mobile Command and Control Center Vehicle (MOCCOV) in Central Luzon kicked-off the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month 2022 held at the NEDA 3 Covered Court, DMGC, City of San Fernando, Pampanga on 01 July 2022.
The MOCCOV is a joint project of the DOST 3, OCD 3 and Office of Senator Joel Villanueva. It is the latest S&T intervention in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation funded by the DOST Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (DOST CEST). DOST CEST is a program that aims to build progressive, empowered, and resilient rural communities.
The custom-made vehicle is equipped with surveillance and communication devices, medical triaging, rescue resources, power supply and other electronic equipment needed during disasters and other emergencies.
The unit will support the rapid deployment of a command center especially in remote areas. It will also help mobilize resources and enable swift coordination and communication among national and local government agencies responding to a disaster or emergency since it provides real-time situationers.
NEDA 3 RD Gina T. Gacusan, DOST 3 RD Julius Caesar V. Sicat , and OCD 3 DRRM Division Head Shelby A. Ruiz led the ribbon cutting ceremony during the launch and deployment of MOCCOV in the region.
