The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region 3 sent four of its staff to Cavite for a training on the use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or more commonly known as drone on February 3-4, 2022.

The objective of the training is to capacitate the staff in using drones in monitoring projects that are difficult to reach or cannot be visited.  At present, NEDA 3 relies solely on reports and photos submitted by project implementing agencies. With the training, the monitoring team can get actual footages or photos of the status of the projects.

The Skypixel18 Aerial Photography Services, an accredited company of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), conducted the training. The four NEDA 3 staff who attended the training are now eligible to take the drone licensure examination.

The use of drones is another step in using technology to improve the monitoring of projects.  This will complement the web-based (e-RPMES) data management system that is being developed in coordination with the NEDA Information and Communications Technology Staff.
