NEDA Central Luzon attended the kick-off activity of the Upland Vegetable Farming project on 16 July 2021 in the Aeta community of Brgy. Nabuclod, Floridablanca, Pampanga. This project is under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) TUlong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) for 2021.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, Pampanga Vice-Governor Lilia Pineda, and Floridablanca Mayor Darwin Manalansan were present to give their messages to the TUPAD beneficiaries.
DOLE pledged Php 10 million for salaries and personal protective equipment for the indigenous people in Floridablanca and Porac, Pampanga who are registered under TUPAD . The project is intended not only to foster income and employment opportunities to the IPs but also to boost the production of agricultural products.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Provincial Government of Pampanga donated seedlings, live chicks, and farming equipment.
Capping the event was the ceremonial planting of seedlings to mark the beginning of the project.
