The NEDA Central Luzon convened for the second time the Recovery Cluster (RC) of the Regional Task Force (RTF) on COVID-19 in Central Luzon on 17 February 2021 via video conferencing.

The meeting is a follow through activity of the Inter-Agency Coordination Meeting held last 14 January 2021. It aims to tackle programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) that were implemented, are being implemented and/or will be implemented pursuant to the thrust of the National Action Plan (NAP) Against COVID-19 Phase 3 to facilitate the robust economic recovery of the region. The implementation of NAP 3 PPAs covers the period October 2020 to March 2021.

In his presentation, Vice-Chairperson of the RTF COVID-19 RC in Central Luzon and NEDA 3 OIC Regional Director Agustin C. Mendoza, discussed the roles and responsibilities of the recovery cluster members, emphasized the need to work together, and for the agencies to ensure timely implementation of PPAs to hasten recovery and address economic disruptions.

The meeting proceeded with the discussion on the accomplishments and recent activities of the various task groups (TGs) and sub-task groups (STGs) under the RTF COVID-19 RC in the region.   No less than DOTr Assistant Secretary Manuel Gonzales presented the action plan of the TG on Transport Support and Local Travel. He reiterated the commitment of DOTr to facilitate the seamless connectivity of the sea, air, and transportation systems in the region to ensure distribution of commodities and movement of people.

The agencies reported a total of 229 PPAs with a total cost of Php 6.01 million broken into TG for Economic Recovery, PhP 3.58 million, TG for Governance, PhP 0.81 million, TG for Social Recovery, PhP 0.37 million, TG for Food Resiliency, 1.20 million, and STG for E-Governance, PhP 60 thousand. These government interventions will fast-track the economic recovery process and transition towards the new normal. These will likewise contribute to the realization of sound strategies for a robust and lasting recovery in the region.
