The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) recognized NEDA Central Luzon for its active participation in pursuing the Philippine Peace Process and its strong resolve to share leadership and experience as the technical secretariat of the Joint Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Central Luzon (JRTF-ELCAC III). Mr. Fernando T. Cabalza, Jr., OIC Chief Economic Development Specialist, received the plaque of appreciation from Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity and Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Region III, during the task force’s second quarter meeting on June 24 in Clark Freeport, Pampanga.

The JRTF-ELCAC III convened to discuss the major accomplishments and way forward of the task force. The meeting was presided by Secretary Galvez and attended by the officers and members of the Regional Development Council III led by its Chairperson, Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia of Bataan, and Regional Peace and Order Council III led by its Chairperson, Governor Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Jr. of Zambales.

In his message, Governor Garcia congratulated the task force for its accomplishments in addressing the decades-long communist insurgency and in facilitating socioeconomic development in conflict-affected areas of the region. He called for the continuation of the task force’s culture of collaboration and the convergence between and among national government agencies, local government units, and other sectors of society to attain just and lasting peace.
